Exposition

A new micro-exhibition, « Elpi: nos origines, il y a 375 millions d’années » (« Elpi: Our Origins, 375 Million Years Ago ») has been developed by Dr. Richard Cloutier and Joël Leblanc, science journalist. It allows you to see a three-dimensional model of the 1.57-metre fossil and to discover posters that reconstruct the life and evolution of Elpistostege watsoni. The exhibition will be presented at the Mouvement Desjardins art gallery at UQAR from June 17 to 20. It is mainly aimed at young people, but information is also accessible to all. The implementation of this science popularization project was made possible thanks to the DIALOGUE fund of the Fonds de recherche du Québec.

The 3D model is the most accurate reconstruction of this elpistostegalian. It has been created by the paleo-artist Tyler Keillor from Chicago, who also created reconstructions of Tiktaalik roseae. The graphic reconstruction and the scenic paleoenvironmental reconstruction have been created by Louis-Philippe Bateman, student in paleontology at McGill University, Montréal. The cartoons were created by the cartoonist Juliane Choquette-Lelarge, Québec.

This activity is free of charge.
